Ed Smith named England national selector

Congratulations to Ed Smith, the former cricketer, broadcaster, journalist and Petrean who was appointed as England’s new national selector in April this year, heading up a new 3 man team to pick players for the men's national teams. Smith promised to bring 'fresh ideas' to the selection process and has not disappointed. Information on the new selection can be found in the Guardian. Ed, who was a Test Match Special commentator, played three Tests for England and retired in 2008 having also played first-class cricket for Kent and Middlesex, where he was captain.
