New study suggests that brain cholesterol may be associated with increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease

An international team of researchers, led by the University of Cambridge, including Peterhouse Research Fellow Dr Thomas Michaels, have shown how cholesterol – a molecule normally linked with cardiovascular diseases – may also play an important role in the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease. The study was published this week in the journal Nature Chemistry.
