Primary Schools Public Speaking Competition

Peterhouse’s Admissions Team hosted a number of local Cambridgeshire primary schools this week for the final of their public speaking competition. Students from seven schools in years 3-6 spoke for a minute and a half on the topic ‘In the future I hope…’ The competition was fierce, with topics ranging from climate change to mermaids, and our Schools Liaison Officers Ellie Bishop and Caitlin Saunders found it very difficult to pick a winner.

The competition was organised with Network CB23, a community of schools in Southwest Cambridge. The Admissions Team started working with them through the ‘Connect to Cambridge’ scheme, a Cambridge Admissions Office initiative that links schools in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough with their local university. We really enjoyed having the pupils visit and look forward to continuing to working with them in the future.
