Peterhouse Graduate Research Studentships 2017

** The competition for 2017 is now closed.  Details for the 2018 competition will appear here in November 2017**

The Governing Body of Peterhouse intends to award a number of Research Studentships, to be taken up in October 2017.

Peterhouse Research Studentships will normally be held for the normal duration of a research student’s degree, up to a maximum of four years. Students may be funded for a one-year MPhil on the condition that they intend to be candidates for the PhD, for which they will receive a maximum of three years funding.

To be eligible for a Peterhouse studentship, applicants must be accepted as a graduate student by the University of Cambridge. They must therefore submit an application through the University’s Board of Graduate Studies, and they must meet whatever criteria are specified by the University and the department or faculty to which they apply. Applicants must also apply for those University and Research Council Studentships (e.g. AHRC, CHESS, CISS) for which they are eligible. Otherwise their application will not normally be considered. Successful applicants must study at Peterhouse.

The value of each studentship will depend on whether students are in receipt of other grants. If a successful applicant has no funding from other sources, then their studentship will cover University and College fees plus maintenance at the same level as the Arts and Humanities Research Council awards (currently £14296 per year for doctoral students, and £10722 per year for MPhil students). This is what is meant by 'full funding'.

Successful applicants who have grants from other sources will receive some proportion of full funding. Students who already have full funding are not eligible to apply for a Peterhouse studentship.

Applications must be made online here

Applications and referees' reports must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 4 January 2017. Incomplete applications will NOT be accepted. Successful candidates will be informed before 1 April 2017 and will take up their awards at the beginning of the academic year 2017-18.
