Professor Phil Woodland elected to a Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering

Fellows and Members of the College will be delighted to learn that Professor Phil Woodland, Professorial Fellow of Peterhouse and Head of Cambridge University's Machine Intelligence Laboratory, has just been elected to a Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The Churchill Zurich conference

On Monday 19 September, the Master and two Petreans took part in a Symposium in Zurich in association with Churchill College. The event, commemorating the famous speech made by Sir Winston Churchill in 1946 which called for "a kind of United States of Europe", took place in the same hall in Zurich University exactly 70 years to the day since he delivered it.

An honour for Sir John Meurig Thomas from the Royal Society

Peterhouse is delighted to share the news that the Royal Society has just announced it is awarding a Royal Medal to the distinguished chemist and former Master of the College, Sir John Meurig Thomas, HonFREng, FRS.

According to the Royal Society’s citation, this considerable honour is ‘for his pioneering work within catalytic chemistry, in particular on single-site heterogeneous catalysts, which have had a major impact on green chemistry, clean technology and sustainability.’
