What is the Peterhouse Applicant Support Scheme?
The 2021 Peterhouse Applicant Support Scheme (PASS21) is an online programme, designed to help you make a competitive application to the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford. The skills and knowledge that you develop through the scheme will also help you to apply to other highly-selective universities. The programme will take you through each part of the application process, from choosing a course to preparing for an interview.
Taking part in the scheme will give you access to email newsletters with application advice and subject-specific resources; webinars and workshops to support you through the process; and independent research, study or self-refelction challenges which will help you to make each aspect of your application more competitive.
Who is it for?
PASS21 is open to current Year 12s, studying in the UK. If you are predicted three As or more at A Level, then we would particularly like to hear from you!
If you are planning to apply to the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford, then this scheme will definitely be useful for you. However, having a strong desire to apply to the University of Cambridge, or to Peterhouse, is not a requirement to take part in the scheme. Especially if you are on track for AAA, feel free to sign up and use the scheme to find out more about life at Cambridge.
The scheme is open to any state school Year 12 pupil who either lives in, or is studying at a school in, our Link Areas of Nottinghamshire, Hillingdon and Oxfordshire.
We also have 60 places to offer to Year 12 state school pupils from outside our Link Areas. If more than 60 pupils apply, we will prioritise applicants who:
- Have at any time been under the care of a Local Authority.
- Are currently eligible for Free School Meals, or who have been eligible for Free School Meals in the last 6 years.
- Have home postcodes in areas with low local participation in Higher Education (POLAR4 quintiles 1 and 2).
- Have home postcodes in areas of high socio-economic deprivation (IMD quintiles 1 and 2).
- Are from an ethnic background currently under-represented at the University of Cambridge (Black African, Black Caribbean, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Arab, Roma, Gypsy or Traveller)
When are the key dates?
Applications and sign-ups will open on January 18th, and close at 23:59 on February 21st. We aim to let you know by March 1st if we have been able to give you a place.
The scheme will begin in mid-March and will end in early November.
