Chapel Services

Members and associate members of Peterhouse are warmly invited to join us for weekday services and Sunday Communion and Evensong services. Please see below or download a copy of the term card (see the bottom of the page).

Divine Service during Lent Term (2022) 

All members & associate members of College and their guests are welcome. Alumni are also welcome but are kindly requested to email first with the chaplain to check about space for larger services such as Evensong.

SPECIAL SERVICES

Booking for services is no longer required, except for services such as Corporate Communion. In those cases, an email from the Chaplain will notify you when you can book via Upay.

Several services of Compline are also planned and will be added below soon when those dates are confirmed.

January         

24th     A short candlelit service of Choral Compline will take place on Monday at 9.00pm. This will be followed by cocoa in Upper Hall.

25th    The Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul will be observed with a service of Holy Communion at 8.00am using the Book of Common Prayer.

30th    The Feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple (Candlemas) will be observed on Sunday at the usual services.

February       

4th      The Commemoration of Benefactors will take place at 7.00pm in Chapel. The preacher will be the Rev’d Sam Dennis, Vicar of St Luke’s, Woodside, London.

10th    Corporate Communion will take place at 6.00pm. The service will be followed by a free supper in the Combination Room.

21st    A candlelight service of Choral Compline will take place on Monday at 9.00pm. This will be followed by cocoa in Upper Hall.

March           

2nd      Ash Wednesday will be observed with two services: Morning Prayer with Litany and Commination at 8.15am, and a Choral Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes at 6.00pm.

7th       An informal, meditative service of Taizé music and prayers will be held at 9.00 pm, which will be followed by cocoa in Upper Hall.

13th     A Passiontide Service of music, poetry and readings will take place in the Chapel at 6 pm.   

 

Bible study:          We will offer a bible study to explore the preaching texts from Evensong in greater depth. Details to follow.

Confirmation:      If you are interested in discussing the Christian faith and the possibility of confirmation in Easter term, please email the Dean.

 

CHARITABLE GIVING

During Michaelmas Term, our voluntary collection after Chapel will continue to be taken to support Christian Aid, a partnership of people, churches and local organisations working to end poverty worldwide. Their areas of focus include community health, resilience and climate, inclusive markets and governance, gender justice, and humanitarian relief.
