SERMON SERIES

Evensong sermons in Lent term will explore Jesus’s identity through the ‘I am’ sayings in the Gospel of John.

 

SPECIAL SERVICES & EVENTS

February            

1st  The choir will sing Evensong at St Edmundsbury Cathedral at 3.30 pm on Saturday. All are welcome.

2nd      The Feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple (Candlemas) will be observed Sunday at 9.00am and 6.00pm.

3rd      A short candlelit service of Choral Compline (sung night prayer) will take place once this term on Monday at 9.00pm.

7th      The Commemoration of Benefactors will begin at 7.00pm. The preacher is the Rev’d Dr Geoff Dumbreck, former Assistant Chaplain at Peterhouse and now vicar in Croydon. All are invited to drinks in the Combination Room afterwards.

13th    Corporate Communion will take place at 6.00pm. All members of College are warmly invited to this service followed by supper in the Combination Room. If you plan to come to supper, please email the Assistant Chaplain.

19th    The choir will sing a Joint Evensong at Fitzwilliam on Wednesday (time TBD). We will have evening prayer instead.

26th    Ash Wednesday will be observed with two services: Morning Prayer with the Litany and Commination at 8.15am, and a Choral Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes at 6.00pm.

March           

2nd      An informal, meditative service of Taizé music and prayers will be held in the Chapel at 9.00 pm, followed by cocoa.

13th-15th    The Chapel Retreat will take place after term at Shepherd’s Dene retreat house in Northumberland. The Rev’d Anna Matthews, vicar of St Bene’t’s Church in Cambridge will lead the retreat. Please contact the Assistant Chaplain with questions or to sign up. More details to follow.

 

CHARITABLE GIVING

During the Lent Term, the Chapel will be supporting Whitworth House which provides accommodation for vulnerable young women in Cambridge.
