Dr Sam Cabot
Dr Samuel Cabot joined Peterhouse in 2023 as a junior Research Fellow following his PhD in Astronomy from Yale University. He obtained an MASt from the University of Cambridge (Clare College) and an undergraduate degree from Princeton University.
Sam specializes in the development of new research frameworks for planetary science. He has researched Solar System impact cratering and planetary dynamics, with particular interest in opportunities arising from lunar exploration and regolith characterization. Additionally, he has researched exoplanet detection methods for radial velocity surveys, as well as high-resolution spectroscopy of exoplanet atmospheres.
His publication highlights include: the novel detections of species in exoplanet atmospheres; a novel aggregate Fourier approach for constraining exoplanet populations; the theoretical abundance of Venusian-sourced material in the lunar regolith; and new techniques for studying macroscopic interstellar objects.
