Bye-Fellow, Dr James Wade discovers 15th-Century Comedy Feast

Dr James WadeBye-Fellow, Dr James Wade's study of a 15th-century manuscript sheds light on English comic culture in a time between Chaucer and Shakespeare.

During his research at the National Library of Scotland, Dr Wade discovered the earliest know record of stand-up comedy routines. His research, Entertainments from a Medieval Minstrel’s Repertoire Book, is published in the The Review of English Studies.
