Information for Supervisors
Thank you for supervising Peterhouse students. The College is very grateful to you for undertaking this role. The sections below are intended to provide information that may be useful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if anything is unclear or if you have any questions.
Date last revised: 8 April 2024
If you are asked to work as a supervisor by any College/Dept/Faculty you need to register as a supervisor on CamCORS.
Supervisor Expectations
This document provides general guidance for undergraduate supervisors, including information about the online training package. It is mandatory for all postgraduates and postdocs new to supervising to read this online material.
If you are a UK or Irish passport holder
You do not need to prove your right to work as a supervisor so you can report and claim through CamCORS once you have been approved by the Tutorial Office.
If you do not hold a current UK or Irish passport:
There are certain rules that you need to follow before you can begin to supervise any students, so please read the emails issued at the start of term by the Tutorial Office for further details. The process involves undertaking a Right to Work check and being issued with a Worker’s Agreement.
If you do not comply with the process explained in the email, you cannot be paid for any supervision work you have undertaken, as you would have been working illegally and your student visa could be revoked.
A Worker’s Agreement must be renewed every academic year. You cannot continue to supervise in subsequent years unless the HR Manager issues a new agreement for that year.
If you have any questions about this process please contact the Tutorial Office in the first instance.
The deadline for submission of supervision reports is 9am on the last Monday of full term. For the academic year 2023/24 supervision reports should be submitted by the following dates:
- Michaelmas Term - 27 November 2023
- Lent Term - 11 March 2024
- Easter Term - 10 June 2024
- Long Vacation Term - 26 August 2024
Reports that have not been submitted by these deadlines will not be paid until the end of the following term.
Any supervisor who has concerns about a student should contact the College.
If the concerns are academic, please contact the student's Director of Studies.
If the concerns are pastoral or welfare related, please contact the student's Tutor or Senior Tutor.
If there are Safeguarding or Prevent concerns, please contact the Senior Tutor, Dr Stephen Hampton.
