Two Petreans now world champions after GB Men's Four win at 2025 World Rowing Championships

Two Petrean veterans of the victorious Cambridge Men's Blue Boat earlier this year are now World Champions after the GB Men’s Four won gold in the World Rowing Championships in Shanghai this week.
George Bourne (m. 2024) and James Robson (m. 2024) (left and right below) rowed in what has been dubbed the “Cambridge Four” at the World Rowing Championships in Shanghai, as they rowed alongside another Cambridge Blue Boat rower, Douwe de Graaf (St Edmunds).
CUBC reported that: “after a fantastic week of racing, the crew edged out strong challenges from Romania and the Netherlands in Friday’s final to claim the World Championship title, capping off an extraordinary year for the three victorious Blues.”

Speaking to the BBC following their win, James said:
“We came here thinking we could do it, but we wanted to focus on progressing through the regatta and to get better each time we hit the water. We had a great row in that final. It was quite a battle and we’re just really happy to have got that over the line and get it done!”
George and James were two of the six Peterhouse rowers who earlier this year helped the Cambridge Blue Boats to victory on the Thames in the annual Boat Race.
