Dr Andrzej Wolniewicz
Dr Wolniewicz is a vertebrate palaeontologist interested in the origins and early evolution of reptiles, with a particular focus on Mesozoic marine reptiles (ichthyosaurs and sauropterygians). My research combines fieldwork, comparative anatomy, advanced fossil imaging techniques (CT- and 3D-scanning) and phylogenetic reconstruction.
Dr Wolniewicz obtained a BA in Biological Sciences (2010–2013) and a DPhil in Earth Sciences (2013–2018) from the University of Oxford. In 2019, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Institute of Paleobiology, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland. From 2021 to 2023, he held a research fellowship at Hefei University of Technology in China. He joined the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge as a NAWA Bekker Research Fellow in 2023 and became a Research Associate at Peterhouse in 2024.
