Dr Daniel Sutton

I am a classicist and historian, working primarily on the history of ancient political thought. During my DPhil at St John's College, Oxford (2019-2022), I studied the relationship between language change and civil conflict in Ancient Greek and Roman thought. Before that I read Ancient and Modern History at St John's College, Oxford (2015-2018), and was the Michael Von Clemm Fellow at Harvard University (2018-2019). I am particularly interested in Greek and Roman historiography (especially Thucydides), the history of democratic thought, and approaches to intellectual history.
